Alison Naney

Alison is an ultrarunner, longtime endurance coach, and sports massage therapist who is dedicated to keeping her athletes healthy as they find their limits with sport. She is a veteran of dozens of ultras and trail races including the Chuckanut 50k, White River 50, Cascade Crest 100, Zion 100, Quad Dipsea, Speedgoat 50k, Orcas Island 25k and 50k, Barr Trail Mountain Race, The Rut VK and 28k, and the Broken Arrow Skyrace 26k.

Training, Stress, and Success for Female Athletes

Alison earned a BA in environmental studies from the University of Montana, where she skied, rock climbed, backpacked, and trail ran her way through college. After running her first 50k, she migrated to Seattle and began working at the Seattle Running Company. It was there that she dove headlong into trail and ultrarunning . She read everything she could about training, starting with the timeless tome The Lore of Running. Despite its density, she was hooked, and she knew she wanted to help others accomplish their running goals.

Before long, Alison was leading group trail runs and coaching runners of all ages. She also completed massage school, to further her knowledge of the body and help athletes with injuries. In addition to coaching, Alison runs a massage practice specializing in injury treatment and sports massage in Washington’s Methow Valley.

When not at work, Alison can be found training for races up to the 100-mile distance and exploring her beloved backyard mountains with her husband Sam, their two daughters Fiona and Isabella, and their snow-loving Huskies.
